A little bit about me.
I grew up in the woodsy town of Chelmsford, Massachusetts. After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, I moved to Los Angeles to work in animation. Since then I’ve worked on movies, commercials, and many television shows including 500+ episodes of The Simpsons credited as John Krause.
I love to travel! When traveling I always try new foods. Some things I’ve eaten may seem unusual to you, such as fried grasshoppers in Mexico. In case you’re wondering, fried grasshoppers (chapulines) taste like potato chips! I’ve also eaten tiny roasted worms in Thailand. My favorite food is spaghetti, without grasshoppers.
Writing and illustrating picture books is a bit like traveling. Sometimes I imagine myself in other places, like in the jungle or on the moon. I love to read about other places, and the people who live there. Reading books helps me create my own books. It also helps me understand the world that we are all part of.
